text messages

i'm thankful for mobile devices today that let you keep a running conversation of text messages with people. this has allowed me to keep most of my text "conversations" with Jarronn since april when i got my latest phone. can you imagine that even after five years, i still got excited when i saw his name come across my phone?

i miss the midday check-ins to say hello, make me smile, or make plans for the evening. the messages with one more item for the grocery list, inside jokes between us, or telling me he'd pick me up from the metro station.

---

Me (6/2/09):
Just want you to know I adore you. (and it's ok if you can't respond). Have a good day Boo!

Jarronn (6/2/09):
Haha. I'll make time for my WIFE. I'm madly in love with you too, Boo! We're perfect for each other!

Me (6/2/09):
I couldn't agree more. :-)

---

Jarronn (6/6/09):
What's the word, Babylove?

---

Me (7/27/09):
I really love my husband!

Jarronn (7/27/09):
I looove my wife and tell people that as much as they'll listen!

---

it's hard to think about how much has changed between when those messages were exchanged and now. and yet, some things are still the same. i'm madly in love with Jarronn. i'm perfect for Jarronn. i'm married (kinda, i think) to Jarronn. huh? but Jarronn isn't here.

more text messages later...

  2. Girl i know that feeling, the excitement of seeing those words from someone that cares about you as much as you care about them. It makes your day go easier, it makes you smile from the inside. And it's always something you can read over and over when you dont get a chance to see or hear from them. To know someone out there is thinking about you just as much as your thinking about them. I have texts in my phone from last june. i know what it means to cherish the moments. I'm learning so much more from you as well. Love you Jess

  6. I knew Jarron for a long time We were never close but I was always glad to hear of all the great things going on in his life from his job to his marriage to you. I was devestated when I heard of his death... I pray for you constantly although we've never offically met... your strength is beyond amazing whether you see it or not... I learn from you with every sentance you write. I came accross this scripture and thought I would share it with you in hopes that it would help you in some way....

    A time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    A time to seek, and a time to lose;
    a time to keep, and a time to throw away;

    A time to tear, and a time to sew;
    a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    A time to love, and a time to hate;
    a time for war, and a time for peace.
    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

    In due time this will get easier. Continually praying for you, Samantha Alston

  7. I am SO glad he had a wife like you. He was like a little brother to me in high school and although we lost touch, I always wished the best for him and my heart is happy to see that he got it, in you. Keep strong my sister.
